Match the bed to the care setting.
Discuss the intended ward, patient needs and clinical workflow with the responsible care team. Requirements for a general ward, intensive care, recovery or home-care setting may differ.
Compare practical features.
Ask about adjustment functions, controls, braking, side rails and compatible mattresses. Verify the manufacturer’s specified safe working load and the suitability of each feature for the intended use.
Check the room and access route.
Confirm the dimensions of the bed and the space needed for staff, equipment and movement. Include doorways, lifts, turning space and cleaning access in your site assessment.
Include accessories in the quotation.
Identify the mattress, IV pole, over-bed table, bedside furniture and other accessories your facility needs. Confirm compatibility rather than assuming accessories are interchangeable.
Plan maintenance and cleaning.
Use the manufacturer’s instructions and facility protocols for operation, cleaning and inspection. Ask how spare parts, repairs, warranty enquiries and preventive servicing will be handled.
Prepare your equipment shortlist
